Tracks or Poles

  • Choose whether you want your curtain to hang from a track or a pole
  • Position your track or pole 15cm above your window with 15-20cm either side
  • Always fit the track or pole before taking measurements for curtains
  • Curtain measurements should be the width of the track or pole so they can be drawn right back, unless the window fits wall-to-wall

MEASURING FOR TRACKS

  • Measure the total width of the track including the overlap if there is one
  • Only measure the window if it’s wall-to-wall

Before measuring the drop, decide where you want your curtains to fall.

  • Drop to sill â€“ finish 1cm above the sill
  • Drop below sill â€“ finish 10-15cm below, depending on radiator obstructions
  • Drop to floor â€“ finish 1cm from the floor

Measure the drop in 3 places across the width of the curtain to allow for uneven floors or sills, then use the shortest measuremen

If you want your curtains to drape and gather on the floor, add 10-15cm to the drop to create this effect.

  • Measure from the top of the track to where you want the curtain to finish
  • When your curtains arrive, make sure the adjustable curtain hooks sit in the middle to bottom of the heading so the track is hidden

MEASURING FOR POLES

  • Measure the total width of the pole (excluding the finials at the ends)
  • Only measure the window if it’s wall-to-wall

Before measuring the drop, decide where you want your curtains to fall.

  • Drop to sill â€“ finish 1cm above the sill
  • Drop below sill â€“ finish 10-15cm below, depending on radiator obstructions
  • Drop to floor â€“ finish 1cm from the floor

Measure the drop in 3 places across the width of the curtain to allow for uneven floors or sills, then use the shortest measurement

If you want your curtains to drape and gather on the floor, add 10-15cm to the drop to create this effect.

Measuring the drop for Poles

  • Measure from the eye of the curtain ring so you can see the pole above the curtains
  • When your curtains arrive, measure so the adjustable curtain hooks sit in the top of the heading so that the pole is visible
